A little bit of History...

I was born in King's Lynn (Queen Elisabeth Hospital) and grew up in the same house for most of my life. I went to Reffley Primary School and then moved on to Springwood High School and Springwood 6th form.

My main hobby has always been computers and video games - starting with my Dad's Commodore 64, then a Sega Mega Drive followed by a Playstation, Playstation 2, Gameboy, Gamecube, Nintendo DS and most recently a Nintenndo Wii.

Ever since I got my first PC around age 13 I have been interested in building websites. What started as a small hobby on free hosting services such as Angelfire and Geocities quickly became hosting my own site (known then as 'ShaunsSite').

My websites were largely aimed at young gay people like myself, coming to terms and facing the many problems that go along with it. I published a 'life story' (which will one day come back again) and got incredible feedback - some would praise my bravery of being so honest, others would marvel at the writing. I was just happy to be noticed.

During sixth form and studying for my 'A' levels — Maths, Economics and Computer Science — I really became more involved with web standards and open source. You would never catch me using Internet Explorer.

After getting good grades I was off to the University of Essex where I had a fantastic time. In hindsight I now see that I chose the wrong course - Computer Science contained a lot of modules which I could get very interested in but the main programming courses were a bore. Thankfully, in the final year we could choose our own project and I developed a social networking website in Ruby on Rails which was the most interesting thing I have ever worked on. After getting into Ruby on Rails I really saw the better side of computing - that of Apple. My next computer purchase would be an iMac, and there was no going back from there — we now have 4 Apple devices in our house, and growing!

It was while I was at university that I met my partner Andrew. Since graduating with a BSc (Hons) in Computer Science we have moved in together in a house close to Ipswich town centre. Every other weekend the kids stay with us and we have a great time playing computer games, watching movies and running around in the park.

I currently work for Redink, a (mostly) web design company under the same roof as Healeys Print Group. Great websites are designed there and it is my job to get them online, get them W3C compliant and cross-browser, and add spiffy new features to liven them up — I enjoy it a lot.

Question: What is a "webbunny"?

A: Webbunny is the name I chose to use on the web at various websites and it stuck. A webbunny is anyone who spends a lot of time online and cannot live without the internet!
